OPPO Shenzhen

Zaha Hadid Architects will design new headquarters of Shenzen´s OPPO company. In the west, communication technologies and consumable electronics company OPPO is known to experts and fans of modern technologies rather than ordinary consumers. However, Chinese market is really huge, therefore it´s no wonder that the company has truly global proportions. On Chinese market itself, OPPO is number one and because of that (among other things), globally it´s number five. Of course, company´s new HQ in Shenzen must correspond OPPO´s importance. That´s why famous Zaha Hadid Architects studio was chosen to realize the project.

Presence in forty countries and forty thousand employees – these parameters oblige the company to be represented adequately. Naturally, company´s HQ must correspond its position and it´s only logical that owners addressed biggest names in the world of architecture. In strong competition of teams from Bjarke Ingels Group, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners or Henning Larsen Architects, Zaha Hadid Architects became the winner. The studio lead by Patrik Schumacher succeeded with project which will definitely make the landmark of Shenzen´s financial district.

Project´s design mirrors company´s growth as well as its commitment to connectivity, OPPO´s main philosophy. It defines the design of OPPO´s HQ, which is not the single building, but four interconnected towers. Their rounded shapes tapered both at the base and at the top not only makes the design very interesting, but it also expands the civic space at the street level. The highest of all four towers will have 42 levels and will raise to the height of 200 m. The built-up area will be 185,000 square meters. Spacy atrium of all the buildings with maximum access of sunlight will visually connect all of the company´s departments located in individual floors. Along with the offices, the complex will accommodate shops, restaurants, art gallery and space for rest and relaxation. At the top of the complex, public rooftop space named Lab View will be created and it will offer magnificent views on the city and the bay area.
